About us

An electrician who answers his own phone

Dan Whitaker grew up in Loveland and spent twelve years wiring new homes and commercial buildings across the Front Range. In 2011 he started Kettle Creek Electric to do residential work his own way: show up on time, explain the problem plainly and leave the house cleaner than he found it.

The company is still small, and Dan still looks over every quote that goes out.

Why Kettle Creek Electric

Work you will not have to think about again

01

Licensed electricians, not helpers

The person who shows up is a licensed electrician who can diagnose the problem and fix it on the spot.

02

Permits handled for you

When a job needs a permit, we pull it and schedule the inspection. You get the paperwork when it passes.

03

Clear quotes

You see the price in writing before we start. If we find something unexpected, we stop and talk to you first.

04

Respect for your home

Shoe covers, drop cloths and a clean work area. We patch our own access holes when the job calls for it.

  2. We take a look

For bigger jobs we visit first and check your panel and wiring before we put a number on it.

  3. Written estimate

  4. Work and walkthrough

We do the work, test everything and show you what we did before we leave.

FAQ

Electrical questions homeowners ask

Do I need a permit for electrical work?

Most new circuits, panel changes, EV chargers and remodel wiring need one in Fort Collins and Larimer County. Simple repairs and fixture swaps usually do not. We tell you which applies to your job and handle the permit when it does.

Why does my breaker keep tripping?

It is usually an overloaded circuit, a short in a device or a failing breaker. Resetting it over and over is not safe. We will find the cause and fix it.

Can my panel handle an EV charger?

Often yes, but not always. We do a load calculation before quoting. If the panel is close to full, a load management device or a panel upgrade may be the answer.

How long does a panel upgrade take?

The power is usually off for part of one day. Planning, permitting and utility scheduling take a little longer, and we handle all of that for you.

Do you work on older homes?

Yes. We see plenty of ungrounded outlets, cloth wiring and aluminum branch circuits in older Fort Collins neighborhoods, and we can upgrade them safely.

Do you charge for estimates?

Estimates for planned work like panels, chargers and lighting are free. Troubleshooting calls have a service fee, which we quote on the phone before we come out.
