Two generations of Lancaster plumbers
Tom Brenneman learned plumbing working on farmhouses and row homes around Lancaster County. He started Millrace Plumbing Co. in 1996 with one van and a reputation for being straight with people.
His daughter Kate joined after earning her own plumbing license and now runs the company day to day. Tom still stops by job sites, mostly to talk shop with the crew.
Plumbers who tell you the price first
Price first, then the work
Our plumbers quote the job in writing before they start. No hourly meter running while you wonder what it will cost.
Stocked trucks
Common parts ride with us, so most repairs are done in one visit instead of two.
Clean and careful
Shoe covers, drop cloths and a tidy work area. We leave your home the way we found it.
A family name on the truck
Tom Brenneman started the company, and his daughter Kate runs it today. They answer for every job.

Plumbing questions we hear often
Do you charge by the hour?
No. We give you a written price for the job before we start, so you know the cost up front no matter how long it takes.
Do you handle emergencies?
Yes. For burst pipes, sewer backups and no water, call us any time. There is an added fee outside business hours, and we will tell you what it is on the phone.
What should I do if a pipe bursts?
Shut off the main water valve, usually in the basement near the front wall where the line comes in. Turn off the water heater, then call us. If water is near outlets or the panel, stay out of that area.
Should I repair my water heater or replace it?
If the tank is leaking, replacement is the only fix. If it is under ten years old and the problem is a thermostat or element, a repair usually makes sense. We will give you both prices.
Will you install fixtures I buy myself?
Yes. We are happy to install faucets and fixtures you choose. We will let you know if anything looks like it will cause trouble down the road.
Why does my drain keep clogging?
Repeat clogs usually point to buildup further down the line, roots or a damaged pipe. A camera inspection tells us which, so we can fix the cause.
