Fix where customers get stuck
If a customer cannot finish your enquiry form, a faster inbox workflow will not solve the problem. Ask your office team which details customers struggle to enter, then test those situations. AI can propose clearer wording, but a person must check that the instructions match what the form accepts.
Make errors easy to recover from
Imagine a service enquiry rejects a phone number containing spaces. A red outline alone does not explain the problem. W3C recommends clear error descriptions that identify the field and explain the correction, plus feedback when submission succeeds. Ask your developer to associate messages with their fields and expose changing feedback to assistive technology. This improvement does not establish compliance for the whole site.
Full source reviewed; supports clear error and success feedback. Checklist is an original implementation proposal. W3C: form notifications
Use a correction checklist
Use fictional details in a test environment. Try an empty required field, a phone number with spaces, an email typo, a long business name and an optional field left blank. Record the input, result, message and whether other entries survived. Test keyboard completion and arrange qualified screen-reader review. Give each reproducible issue an owner and an acceptance condition.
Keep customers in charge of their details
An agent should not invent an address or change an unusual name to make validation pass. Offer a clear correction or alternative contact method. Check both the visible form and receiving system: a website can accept a value that the next integration rejects. Do not collect extra personal information simply because another system has more fields.
Measure whether the change helps
Predictable error messages can be approved once; they do not need a live AI call on each visit. Compare calls about form problems and completed enquiries over comparable traffic periods. Include developer work, accessibility review and maintenance in the cost. Reduced support work frees capacity but does not automatically reduce payroll or create sales.
